The IGRMS campus is fortunate enough to have about 36 original painted rock shelters in its campus in Bhopal. These sites have been transformed into an open air exhibition ‘Rock Art Heritage, which serves as a universal expression and communication of human thought since the dawn of humanity. Perhaps IGRMS is the only Museum in the world which has shelters of the Prehistoric Man in its premises with original prehistoric painting on its roof and wall drawn by the them dwellers.
In India, pre-historic rock painting occurs in many regions. The largest concentration of such paintings are found in the country’s central sandstone regions, particularly in Madhya Pradesh.
